Maria Valtorta – Notebooks – October 8, 1945:

Jesus explains the Gospel phrase: “You will trample upon serpents and scorpions, and suffer no harm from them”.

Then Jesus says: “Come, Maria, let Me comfort you with a light meant just for you. I will explain to you a new aspect of the Gospel phrase: ‘You will trample upon serpents and scorpions, and suffer no harm from them”.

He who is filled with Me, can trample upon all human doctrines and live among those filled with their venom without suffering harm. It's to be understood in this way, too.

For if, in times past, My blessed ones were truly immune to the bites of wild beasts—for as long as I willed it—and to poisons and other dangers... My blessed ones of today, who live in the corrupt atmosphere of an idolatrous and demon-possessed society, are likewise preserved from every evil by My will. They are in Me, and I am in them. There is no room for anything else. And no poison takes hold, where My love—our love, that of Jesus and of Jesus’s beloved—neutralizes every poison.

Be at peace, My little beloved. I gather up your sufferings, tears, and prayers... for the sake of all. You were moved because a stone was found near Bethlehem, bearing references to My crucifixion. It's a stone. It serves as a lesson for the proud. Nothing more”.

Far, far, very far greater is the sublime reenactment of My Passion, which I have bestowed upon men of Faith through your labors. Yet the man who places his faith in barren, unreliable stone shall himself become barren and uncertain when faced with that record of My suffering, which I have given you for his sake. Leave the stones behind... and nourish yourself with the tears of My Passion, which you know so well. Let My Passion, be your comfort. Be at peace”.

Poi Gesù dice: “Vieni, Maria, che ti consolo con una luce tutta per te. Ti commento un nuovo lato, della frase evangelica: “Calpesterete serpenti e scorpioni, e non ne avrete danno”.

Chi è pieno di Me può calpestare tutte le dottrine umane, e vivere fra chi è pieno del loro veleno senza averne danno. Va inteso anche così.

Perché, se realmente un tempo i Miei benedetti sono stati immuni da morsi di fiere, finché Io lo volli, da veleni e altri pericoli... i Miei benedetti di ora, che vivono nell’atmosfera corrotta di una società idolatra e indemoniata, sono ugualmente preservati da ogni male per Mio volere. Sono in Me, Io in loro. Non c’è posto per altro. E nessun veleno attacca, dove il Mio amore, il nostro amore — di Gesù e del prediletto di Gesù — neutralizza ogni veleno.

Sta’ in pace, piccola prediletta. Io raccolgo sofferenze, lacrime e preghiere tue... per tutti. Ti sei commossa, perché è stata trovata una pietra presso Betlemme, con degli accenni alla Mia crocifissione. È una pietra. Serve per i superbi. Non di più.

Molto, molto, moltissimo di più è l’alta rievocazione della Mia Passione, che Io ho dato agli uomini di Fede attraverso la tua fatica. Ma l’uomo, che crederà all’arida e insicura pietra, sarà arido e incerto davanti a quel documento del Mio dolore che ti ho dato per lui. Tu lascia andare le pietre... e nutriti del pianto della Mia Passione che ben conosci. La Passione Mia, sia il conforto tuo. Sta’ in pace”.
