E quest’altro invece me lo dico io, a me stessa, ricordando… Due anni fa, come oggi, giungevano i parenti di Calabria, ai quali ho dato assistenza e affetto di parente; e per i quali ho ingaggiato la più grande battaglia. Ma io, non sono nelle condizioni di Marta di Lazzaro. Io non sono certa, di avere in pugno la mia vittoria, nonostante tutte le proteste di fede ecc. ecc. che mi vengono scritte. Quello di cui sono certa... è che io ho avuto molta sofferenza, e ce l’ho, e ce l’avrò... per questa ragione, che due anni fa aveva inizio.

Gesù dice: “Merita perdere un’amicizia, per salvare un’anima”.

E va bene. Io credo proprio che sia questo, il mio caso. E confesso anche, che ne ho un dispiacere molto relativo. Penso... che meno lacci avrò... e più sarò libera di volare a Gesù.

Parlo di lacci, di affetti umani. E questi sento, che sono tanto sfibrati da un logorio di meschinità e miserabilità umane... che non ne sussiste che una fibra, già intaccata... che un nulla può rompere.

Così... il mio amore verso i parenti... si spoglia di tutto quanto è carne e sangue... ossia ancora godimento egoistico; e diviene aureo e doloroso amore di spirito... che non abbandonerà questi spiriti per amore di Gesù. E questa... è l’essenza che due anni di conoscenza intima, hanno spremuto dal frutto di questa vicinanza…
