Maria Valtorta – Notebook – January 28–29, 1946

Maria Valtorta – Notebook – January 28–29, 1946:

God gives nothing that exceeds, what a creature can endure.

Maria Valtorta – HOME PAGE

I complain about the excessive amount I suffer. I say: “It's too terrible”.

St. Azaria says to me: “Why do you call that which comes from God ‘terrible’? Why do you call it ‘unbearable’? How can you label as ‘atrocious’ that which is a participation in the Redemption of Christ? Hell is atrocious. That which comes from Satan is unbearable. Only that which comes from Hatred, can be truly ‘terrible’.

God gives nothing that exceeds, what a creature can endure. It was only upon His Son that He laid a heavy hand”.

Those, and those alone, were sufferings beyond measure. And yet... Christ, who understood the justice of it all, endured them without ever calling them terrible, atrocious or unbearable—for to speak in such terms would have been to accuse the Father of striking Him without charity. Victim souls must conform themselves, to the Victim in every respect. Weep, if you must, but don't say that what you suffer is too much. It's proportioned to what you are capable of enduring. And it may well increase—but, at the same time, your strength to endure will also grow, because your love will increase.

And an increase in love, is an increase in strength. Do you think God enjoys seeing you suffer? Don't think so. Just as He suffered for the Son of Man—suffering to the Cross for the sake of humanity—He, who is Goodness Itself, suffers at having to let you suffer. But you asked for this, so as to resemble Jesus in every way.

And God grants your wish. Look at the state of the world today—see how full of sin it is? Jesus contemplated this very time, during the final twenty-four hours of His human life. And He envisioned you, too, as a source of consolation. But one who complains cannot offer consolation! Come now—show a little heroism! Sing with me: “Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit”.

And he falls silent. I promise never to call my sufferings “terrible” again.

Maria Valtorta – Quaderno - 28-29 gennaio 1946:

Maria Valtorta – HOME PAGE

Quelle solo, furono sofferenze senza misura.

E Dio ti contenta. Guarda l’ora del mondo. Vedi come è peccaminosa?
