Maria Valtorta – Notebooks – December 2, 1945:
Solitude... makes it possible to understand God, and to discern good from evil.
Words addressed to E. F. from Jeremiah, chapter 31, verses 21–22.
The Lord says: “To speak stern words, when one would wish to offer only love... is a painful thing. Yet I have said: ‘It's an act of love not to allow deviations from justice to occur”.
Therefore, listen. When humanity turns you into castaways—external humanity, that is, the humanity of others; and internal humanity, that is, your own—the only way to return to the surface, to the shore, to salvation... is to emerge from that treacherous, raging sea, buffeted by contrary winds. How? By withdrawing into solitude.
Solitude allows one to understand God, and discern good from evil; in solitude, one can separate what is good... from what is not good—in short, to work, and to work upon oneself. Dissipation is never good. It's always disorder. Disorder never has God with it. How should you isolate yourself? As a sailor does during a great storm: by finding a quiet bay. Have you strayed from the course you had set for yourself? It doesn't matter. For that matter, the course you had set, might not have been the right one. You merely claimed it was. And you followed it without looking at the compass, relying instead on your own judgment—so you left the harbor on the wrong heading from the very start, despite more than one pilot trying in vain to set you right. And you drift further and further off course, insisting on following your own crazed needle. Separate yourself from the world, and the voices of the world... in order to listen to God.
What value did you place, on the counsel of those... who spoke in My Name? Do you not know, that God speaks through the lips of His servants? And what value did you place, on what was entrusted to you in My Name? One, two, three, a thousand counselors. Babel. One, two, three acts of disobedience. Rebellion. It's useless to call for help, if you don't listen to the voice! Return, then... to that early counsel; reflect—and if you can... make amends. But you, can no longer do so. For it's too late. And you are bringing about your own ruin. You wander aimlessly, seeking comfort. Yet if it's not to your liking, you cast it aside. So what then? Why do you disobey Me? What did Father Migliorini advise you, to do at the very beginning? You don't even remember anymore; you cause him distress... and you cause yourself distress—all to no avail.
What is in My words? Can you not read them? You fail to read the signs; you err again, even when I providentially remedy that foolish dispatching of letters—as if seeking vocations, were like sourcing commodities. Let that pass... But My words! My words! Isolate yourself! Sever ties! Don't delude yourself. Cultivate silence within yourself, around yourself... deep inside you. Let the winds die down. And then—humbled, submissive, obedient and patient—begin anew... along different paths. Do you wish to be a victim? Then break your own will. Obedience, endures even after release from vows.
Obedience to Me. Should the Work ultimately come to ruin, My Heart will suffer, as will yours and others’... yet your soul will gain by it, if you can transform this torture into a means of sanctification. Bend your soul; bend it. It will grow stronger wings. You have the freedom to use it rightly. Have the patience to see things through to the end... and the heroism to humble yourself. When the time comes, you will find purification in another Order, or even—in a life no less pleasing to God—within the quiet of a home, out in the world. May the Light be with you, O clouded soul.

Maria Valtorta – Quaderni - 2 dicembre 1945:
L’isolamento...
dà modo di intendere
Dio, e discernere il bene e il male.
Parole rivolte a E. F. da Geremia cap. 31 v. 21-22.
Come? Isolandosi.
Come isolarti?
L’ubbidienza a Me.
